August 14, 2026: WAPDA celebrated the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with national fervor. The main ceremony for hoisting the National Flag was held at WAPDA House, Lahore. Chairman WAPDA and Chief Guest of the ceremony Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed (Retd) hoisted the National Flag at the WAPDA Auditorium.
Member (Finance) Naveed Asghar Chaudhry and Member (Power) Muhammad Arfan Miana also attended the ceremony. A large number of WAPDA officers, employees, and their family members participated in the event, reflecting the spirit of unity and patriotism that defines the organization.
Hoisting of the National Flag was followed by the Milli Naghmas performed by the students of WAPDA Girls High School, Barotha. The students were especially invited to Lahore to be part of the celebrations.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chairman congratulated the audience on Independence Day. He appreciated the students and their teachers for the soulful performance of Milli Naghmas, by infusing the audience with patriotism. He advised the youngsters to adopt a positive attitude to move forward. We should take pride in what we have achieved during the last 79 years of Independence and make earnest efforts for the development and prosperity of the country, he further said.
Earlier, the Chairman also presented certificates among the students of WAPDA Girls High School Barotha.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the iconic WAPDA House has also been magnificently illuminated in green, with a large illuminated National Flag displayed at its center, serving as a beacon of national pride.
