Diamer Basha Dam Project has achieved a key construction breakthrough with the successful pulling of the main cable for a 30-ton cable crane across the Indus River.
With a span of over 1,500 meters, this ultra-long installation marks an industry-leading technical achievement under challenging high-altitude canyon conditions.
Despite the complex terrain, the project team worked round-the-clock for 3 days to ensure a safe and precise connection. This milestone establishes a critical foundation for the assembly and operation of the cable crane system – a vital component for accelerating construction work on Diamer Basha Dam Project.
WAPDA is constructing Diamer Basha Dam, which is the tallest Roller-Compacted-Concr ete (RCC) Dam in the world with 272 meters height. Once completed, the Dam will store 8.1 MAF of water and generate 4,500 MW green, clean and affordable electricity with annual energy generation of 18,000 billion.
