
January 06, 2026: A delegation of National Workshop Balochistan – 18 (Youth) visited WAPDA House for an interaction relating to water and hydropower development with special reference to Balochistan. During the visit, the delegation was briefed about water, food and energy security of Pakistan; water dynamics in the country; effects of climate change; and development of water and hydropower resources by WAPDA in the country, particularly in Balochistan.
Later during the Q&A session, Chairman WAPDA Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed (Retd) elaborated the factors behind the slow-paced development of water resources in Pakistan; the issue of un-proportionate extraction of ground water in the country; water conservation; and impact of holding Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance by India unilaterally. The Chairman also clarified the role and functions of WAPDA after its restructuring in 2007.
