The project area is located in a largely unpopulated area of Rondu valley, district Skardu. The dam site was identified on Indus River 54 km downstream of Skardu city and 0.5 km upstream of Tungas village. The powerhouse site is to be located 15 km downstream of dam site and 3 km upstream of Dambu Das/Mendi village on Indus River.
