- Present Status:
- WAPDA Authority Awarded Consultancy Services for Preparation of subject Feasibility Study to M/s MM Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. – BARQAAB Consulting Services (Pvt.) Ltd. (JV). The Consultant commenced their services w.e. from 23.05.2022.
- Inception Report along with ESIA was submitted by the consultants after incorporating the project office comments on 23.01.2023 and the same was also shared with Secretary Irrigation Department, GoS on 17.02.2023 for Review and comments.
- Draft Mid-term report has been submitted by the Consultants on 10.10.2023.
- Groundwater studies, Environmental studies, Resettlement studies, Soil & water quality field testing, Geo-tech investigation, Strip Survey of project areas, Condition survey, hydrological studies, Agriculture studies, digital Mapping and data collection from other Govt: Departments have been completed under mid-term task of feasibility study. Whereas Drainage alignments and Disposal options have also been finalized with the help of Stake holders i-e Govt. of Sindh, Locals and Army.

- EoT-2 for implementation of Project was approved by MoWR upto 30.06.2024.
- Addendum No.01 (EOT) upto 31st December 2023, amounting Rs. 232.294 Million was approved by the competent authority on 27.12.2023.
- Adjusted Addendum No. 01 within approved cost of Addendum No. 01 (EoT) w.e.from 01.01.2024 to 30.06.2024 was approved by the competent authority on 27th May, 2024.
- Draft Feasibility Report was submitted by the Consultants on 01.03.2024 which was shared with the stakeholders i.e. Secretary Irrigation Department GoS and Commander V Corps Karachi.
- Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has accorded Approval NOC regarding Feasibility study of Ghotki Drainage Project WAPDA Sukkur on 05.06.2024.
- Consultants have submitted Final Feasibility report on 26.06.2024 which was forwarded to the MoWR, GoP, Islamabad vide Letter No. GM(C&M)W/DP-10/877 dated 11.07.2024.
- Consultants have submitted Draft PC-I on 28.06.2024 which was forwarded to SRC WAPDA for comments.
- Comments on Draft PC-I has been received from SRC WAPDA Lahore on 30.08.2024.
- The meeting of SRC of WAPDA to discuss the PC-I proforma for feasibility study was held on 27.11.2024.
- Minutes of Meeting on Final PC-I has been issued by SRC WAPDA on 28.11.2024.
- Engineer’s Estimate and Final PC-I has been submitted by the Consultants on 12.12.2024 & 19.12.2024 respectively.
- Bidding/Tender documents are under preparation process by the consultant.
- Final PC-I having amount of Rs. 156.217 Billion has been cleared by SRC WAPDA on 13.01.2025 which will be submitted to the MoWR, Govt. of Pakistan, Islamabad shortly.
- After clearance from SRC WAPDA, Consultants have submitted Final PC-I on 17.01.2025.
- Final PC-I has been signed by the Worthy Member (Water) and is placed for kind signature of Honorable Chairman WAPDA prior to its final submission to MoWR and uploading at iPAS.
- IHD held on 18.03.2025 at WAPDA Mega Hydel Projects Complex, Islambad. The directions of Worthy Chairman WAPDA regarding Ghotki Drainage Project has been conveyed for implementation by Project Consultants.
- A Letter regarding consent for submission of PC-I amounting Rs 156.217 billion for construction of drainage networks in district Ghotki Sindh has been issued by the Member (Water) to Secretary, Irrigation Department, Govt. of Sindh, Karachi.
- Addendum No. 02 – for Ghotki Drainage Project has been submitted by the Consultants on 15.04.2025 after incorporating detailed justifications offered by the O/o General Manager (P) South WAPDA Hyderabad.
- Soil Study Report has been submitted by the Consultants on 21.04.2025.
- Irrigation Department, Govt. of Sindh has forwarded a letter regarding consent for submission of PC-I of Ghotki Project to the Chief Engineer, Guddu Barrage Region, Sukkur and the Chief Engineer Development Region-I, Hyderabad to review/furnish comments on PC-I of Ghotki Drainage Project.
- Consultants have submitted Annotated reply on 14.05.2025 regarding directions / decisions made by Worthy Chairman WAPDA during IHD.
- General Manager (Projects) South WAPDA Hyderabad vide letter No.GM(P)S/DB-103/5167-70 dated 30.05.2025 has requested the Secretary Irrigation Department Govt of Sindh to issue the consent for processing of PC-I of Ghotki Drainage Project.
- General Manager (Projects) South WAPDA Hyderabad vide letter No. GM(P)S/DB-190/5203-06 dated 02.06.2025 has instructed the Chief Engineer (Water) and Project Director, Ghotki Drainage Project WAPDA Sukkur to pursue the matter with Secretary Irrigation Department Govt of Sindh to issue the consent for processing of PC-I of Ghotki Drainage Project.
- This office vide letter No. CE(Water)/Suk/558 dated 17.06.2025 has requested M/s MMP Consultants to provide suggestions / recommendations regarding development of model drain at the proposed area of Ghotki Project in the light of IHD decisions.
- Managing Director SIDA vide letter No. MD/SIDA/2198 dated 19.06.2025 has forwarded General and Technical comments regarding Consents of PC-I of Ghotki Drainage Project to Secretary, Irrigation, Govt. of Sindh, Karachi. This office vide letter No. CE(Water)/Suk/569 dated 20.06.2025 has forwarded the same to Consultants for comprehensive reply.
- This office vide letter No. CE(Water)/Suk/613 dated 09.07.2025 has issued a reminder to the Consultants M/s MMP to submit comprehensive reply on SIDA’s comments at the earliest.
- Project Consultants have submitted annotated reply on SIDA’s comments vide letter No. MMP/RPUS/ 1077/REP/543/2025 dated 06th August, 2025 regarding consent of Sindh Government for PC-I of Ghotki Drainage Project.
- Para wise replies submitted by the Consultants on SIDA’s comments have been thoroughly reviewed by this office and found some observations for which Project Consultants have been requested vide letter No. CE(Water)/Suk/850 dated 19.09.2025 to attend all comments received from SIDA, GoS and re-furnished / revised para wise replies be submitted to this office at the earliest.
The Consultant office has submitted updated replied of PC-I Comments vide later dated: 22.10.2022
- In light of Honorable Federal Minister Water Resources meeting with CM Sindh at Karachi dt. 24.07.2025; the Technical Committee notified vide letter dated 27.10.2025 comprising the WAPDA & Irrigation Department, GoS to review issues of Projects executed by WAPDA in Sindh Province, the 1st meeting will be held shortly.
