Tarbela Dam is located on on Indus River, District Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Tunnel 5 was constructed for the generation of hydropower, employment generation during construction & O&M of the project, development of fisheries and to reduce load shedding. It was completed in May 2026 with a generation capacity of 1530 MW and annual energy of 1347 GWh.
