MUNDA DAM PROJECT

1.  LOCATION
This project is proposed to be constructed on Swat River about 5 Km upstream of Munda Head works in Mohmand Agency FATA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

2. OBJECTIVES .Flood Mitigation
.Irrigated Agriculture development of 6,110 Heactares (15,097 acres), further enhancement of command area will
be assessed as per request of Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
.Hydropower generation (Installed Capacity 740 MW, Generation 2407 Gwh Annually).
.Socio-economic uplift of People of the area.

4.  CURRENT STATUS
1. Feasibility completed in March 2000.
2. Ministry of Water & Power awarded review of feasibility study of the project to M/s AMZO. AMZO submitted
    feasibility study to PPIB as Power Project in 2006.
3. Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa & WAPDA advocated for Munda Dam as Multipurpose Project and raising of dam
    to accommodate flood mitigation and irrigation.
4. The Ministry of Water & Power reassigned Munda Dam Project to WAPDA for carrying out detailed
    engineering design and construction of the project.
5. Revised PC-II amounting to Rs. 648 million approved by CDWP subject to availability of foreign funding US $
    7.6 Million required for Detailed Engineering Design.
6. EOI for short listing of Consultants for detailed engineering design and preparation of tender documents
    invited/received on November 23, 2010. Nine Firms/Joint Ventures submitted EOI documents. 05 Firms/JVs
    short listed and RFP issued to short listed firms.
7. Three firms/JVs Submitted proposals on July 06,2011 i. Hydrochina Zhongnan - PCA JV, (ii).
    SMEC-NK- NESPAK - ACE JV (iii) LI - COBA - NDC - BARQAAB JV).
8. Technical & Financial proposals of M/s SMEC -NK- NESPAK - ACE JV have been approved by the Authority at
    Consultancy cost of Rs. 611.51 Million.
9. The Contract Agreement for Consultancy services likely to be signed by January 2012.
10.World Bank Afd, Approached through EAD for financing. Moreover MoW&P has been requested for PSDP
    allocations.
