Location

The Project in Located in Keyal Khwar in Dasu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project is accessible by road and is at a distance of 310 km from Islamabad. Keyal Khwar is the right tributary of Indus River.

PROJECT CONSULTANTS

            M/s Lahmeyer and M/s NDC for Feasibility Report.

            M/s Lahmeyer, M/s NDC and EASE PAK for Detailed Engineering Design, Construction Design and Construction Supervision.
PRESENT STATUS / PROGRESS

    ·        Feasibility Report completed in October, 2007.

    .      Loan Project Agreement Euro 79 Million between GOPand Kfw of Germany signed on November 11 2008 for implementation of the Project. Supplementary loan Agreement Euro 20 Million signed on 11.04.2009.

    .      The Authority in its meeting held on 31-03-2010 accorded approval for engagement of Consultants JV comprising M/s Lahmeyer Germany as lead Firm in association with M/s NDC and EASE PAK at a cost of Rs. 525,207.502.50 and Euro 6,611,591,50.

    .      Contract agreement for consultancy services signed with Keyal Hydropower consultants (KHPC) on May 12, 2010 in prsence of Federal Minister for Water and Power and Chairman WAPDA for prepartion of detailed Engineering Design & Tender Documents and Construction supervision.

    .     M/s Lahmeyer International (JV) has started their consultancy services w.e.f 01.06.2010.

    .      Relending of loan has been taken up with Government of Pakistan Loan term decided by ECC in its meeting held on June 30, 2011.

    .      Final detail Engineering Design report received from Consultant during 2nd week of December 2011.

    .      Guage observations have been started at Peshawa and Shenshal after installing new gauges. Gauge observations are being carried out by Surface Water Hydrology, WAPDA.

    .      Drilling at bore hole is in progress by DID, Wapda. Upto date 1518.0 m drilling has been completed against 1815.0 M.

    .      An other Contractor image Tech Universal Engineering JV is hired for geotechnical investigation of bore hole No. Sh-03. Drilling started on 22.08.2011 and upto date 203 m drilling has been completed against 350 m.

    .      Geo-Technical Investigation Contractor, Image Tech Universal Engineering JV was hired for drilling at bore hole No. SH-03. Drilling started on 22.08.2011 and upto date 242 m drilling has been completed.

    .      The Authority in its meeting held on 27.09.2011 accorded approval for award of contract for ventilation tunnel to M/s Sarwar & Co (Pvt) Ltd at a cost of Rs. 109.322 Million. The letter of acceptance and performance Security has been received from Contractor. Consent from KFW for signing of Contract Agreement is awaited.

    .      CDO, WAPDA has been involved for Planning & Designing of Office & Staff Colony. The following designs are awaited from CDO.

           - Architectural design of Rest houses and Staff Hostel.

           - Structural & foundtion design of school, Rest house and staff
      hostel

    .      Work order for construction of O&M Staff colony at Pattan Lot-1 (constuction of Colony Infrastructure Internal Roads, Water Supply and Sewerage System) has been issued to lowest Bidder M/s Muhammad Naeem & CO and Contract Agreement has been signed. Further three lots-2, 7 & 10 is in the process of award, acceptance letters issued to M/s Ryoal Bidders, M/s Zardad & Tahir and M/s Khan Engineers & Contractor. Four Lots - 3,4,5 & 6 has been advertised and tender opended on 31.01.2012.

    .      Evacuation of Power from Keyal HPP and its interconnection to under constructed Dubair HPP switchyard was discussed with High Head Consultants and Director Technical General Manager (Northern Area). It was concluded that one additional bay at Dubair switchyard may be constructed by Contractor working at present. Estimate was received and forwarded to Kfw for consent. 

    .      The hydraulic model study has been completed by IRI Nandipur.
    Report  is awaited.
