MANGLA DAM RAISING PROJECT

At the time of initial construction of Dam, provision was kept for 40 ft Raising at Additional Cost of US $ 18 million. Since the reservoir capacity had reduced to 4.674 MAF from 5.88 MAF due to sediment deposition, raising of Mangla Dam by 30 ft. was taken in hand which has been now completed. The Project has provided additional water storage of 2.88 MAF, increase in water head by 40 ft. and additional power generation of 644 GWh per annum and further flood alleviation.
