Lahore - May 16, 2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) today won the 62nd National Men’s Championship with 264 points. Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) bagged second position with 163 points and Pakistan Army secured third position with 101 points.
WAPDA cyclists set two new national records in the championship in 4000-meter individual pursuit and 4000-meter team pursuit. WAPDA’s Muhammad Sabir was declared best cyclist while WAPDA’s Shakeel Jutt was named fastest cyclist of the championship.
The 4-day championship was organized by WAPDA Sports Board. WAPDA won five gold, one silver and one bronze medals followed by SSGC with two gold, three silver and one bronze medals, while Pakistan Army bagged one gold, two silver and four bronze medals in the championship.
WAPDA Sports Board President Amer Ahmad was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, who gave away trophies to the winning teams.
It is pertinent to mention that as many as nine teams participated in the championship, which included WAPDA, SSGC, Pakistan Army, HEC, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad. A total of eight events were held during the championship
