Golen Gol Hydropower Project’s 1st Unit to be commissioned in October 2017

May 30, 2016: Construction work on the 108 MW-Golen Gol Hydropower Project has been expedited, while reliability of test run for Unit No. 1 of the project dedicated for District Chitral is expected to be commissioned in October 2017. Although, efforts are being made to complete the Unit No. 1 in June 2017.

WAPDA, SAU sign MoU for sustainable development of land, water resources

May 20, 2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tando Jam today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support research and exchange of technical expertise leading to sustainable development of land and water resources in Pakistan. The major areas to be covered under the MoU include water conservation, water logging and salinity and cropping patterns etc.

KP CM Assures Help for Early Resolution of Land Issues for Dasu Project

May 9, 2016: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak today convened a meeting to resolve the issues pertaining to land acquisition for the 4320 MW-Dasu Hydropower Project being constructed by the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on River Indus upstream of Dasu Town in Kohistan District of KP Province.

WAPDA Implementing Warsak Rehabilitation to regain lost Generation Capacity

Lahore – May 6, 2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood today visited Warsak Dam and Hydel Power Station located in Khyber and Mohmand agencies of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). During the visit, the Chairman reviewed the matters relating to rehabilitation of Warsak Hydel Power Station. Member Power Badr-ul-Munir Murtiza was also present on the occasion.

Detailed Engineering Design of Mohamand Dam to be completed in January 2017

Lahore – May 5, 2016: Work on detailed engineering design of Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project is continuing, which will be completed in January 2017.

This was stated by the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood during his visit to the project site located in Mohmand Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). WAPDA General Manager (Hydro) Planning, General Manager (Projects) North and representatives of the consultants were also present during the visit.

Record Hydel Generation in April 2016 , 2.314 BLN. Units of Low-cost Hydel Power Delivered To National Grid

Lahore – May 4,2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) hydel power stations delivered as many as 2.314 billion units of low-cost hydel electricity to the National Grid in April 2016. This is the highest-ever generation of hydel electricity generated during the month of April so far.
