Lahore: August 31, 2017. In a significant development towards economic development and social uplift through irrigated agriculture in Dera Bugti / Balochistan, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has completed construction of Phase – I of Kachhi Canal Project. Subsequent to filling of water, the Prime Minister is scheduled to formally inaugurate the canal in 2nd week of September by releasing water in the distribution systems to irrigate as many as 72,000 acres of land in the far-flung and backward areas of Dera Bugti district.
August 24, 2017. The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R) today reviewed progress on water sector projects of WAPDA in Balochistan province in a meeting held at Quetta.
Lahore: August 16, 2017. Tarbela Dam today filled to its maximum storage level of 1550 feet above mean sea level.
It is worth mentioning that 6.17 MAF water, maximum live storage capacity of Tarbela, has been stored in the reservoir for irrigation and power generation.
Pakistan needs one dam every decade to tackle water woes: WAPDA Chairman
August 15, 2017: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R) today visited Nai Gaj and Darawat dams located in districts Dadu and Jamshoro of Sindh province respectively.
Lahore – August 14, 2017: A graceful ceremony was held here today at WAPDA House to celebrate the Independence Day with national zeal. WAPDA Member (Power) Badrul Munir Murtiza was the chief guest on the occasion who hoisted the National Flag followed by the National Anthem that was sung by the students of WAPDA schools in consonance with the main flag hoisting ceremony at Islamabad.
Lahore-August 12, 2017: Following the delay of more than a decade, the construction of Kachhi Canal Project will finally be completed by third week of August followed by filling of water to test the main canal and its structures, while formal commissioning of Kachhi Canal is scheduled by end August 2017 with release of water into the distribution system for irrigation of 72000 acres of virgin land in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan province.
