WAPDA TO ORGANIZE T-12 CRICKET TOURNAMENT FOR SCHOOLS

Lahore – September 17, 2017: As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) is organizing a five day long T-12 Cricket Tournament for Schools from September 18 to 22 at Islamabad in a bid to improve standard of fielding in cricket of Pakistan.

The tournament will be played from Monday (today) with prime focus on fielding. As many as eight schools from Islamabad/Rawalpindi namely Beaconhouse School System, Islamabad College of Arts & Science, Roots Millennium School, West Minister International School, Islamabad Model Collage for Boys (IMCB) Chak Shazad, IMCB F-8/4, Islamabad Model School for Boys (IMSB), Jhang Syedan, and IMSB I-9/4, are participating in the tournament, final of which to be played on September 22.

Chief Executive Officer Islamabad Electric Supply Company Basit Zaman will be the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony of the tournament.

DERA BUGTI, Sep 14(APP): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Thursday inaugurated the Rs 80 bln Kachhi Canal designed to turn 72,000 acres of barren land in Balochistan green.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi unveiled a plaque marking the historic occasion, as water flowed in from the Taunsa Barrage on Indus river, to irrigate virgin land in the far-flung and backward areas of Dera Bugti district of Balochistan province.

CONSTRUCTION OF KACHHI CANAL PROJECT COMPLETE PM TO FORMALLY INAUGURATE PROJECT IN 2nd WEEK OF SEPTEMBER

Lahore: August 31, 2017. In a significant development towards economic development and social uplift through irrigated agriculture in Dera Bugti / Balochistan, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has completed construction of Phase – I of Kachhi Canal Project. Subsequent to filling of water, the Prime Minister is scheduled to formally inaugurate the canal in 2nd week of September by releasing water in the distribution systems to irrigate as many as 72,000 acres of land in the far-flung and backward areas of Dera Bugti district.
