Lahore – March 14, 2016: Taking strong exception to a news report aired by Dunya News - a private television channel, WAPDA spokesperson has said that Mangla Dam is absolutely safe and no cracks whatsoever appeared in it.
Lahore – March 14, 2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) held the first pre-bid meeting at WAPDA House today for Main Civil Works of the Stage-I of Dasu Hydropower Project. Main Civil Works consist of MW-01 Dam and its appurtenant structures and MW-02 Underground Powerhouse and its appurtenant structures. The bid documents of these works were issued on February 12, 2016 to pre-qualified Bidders for submission on May 12, 2016. It is pertinent to mention that representatives of all the eight pre-qualified firms and joint ventures (4 contractors from Turkey, one each from China, Italy, Vietnam, and South Korea) attended the meeting.
Lahore – March 11, 2016: Reviewing the pace of construction work on the 969 MW-Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project (NJHP), the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood has urged upon the project authorities to further expedite their efforts, so that the strategically important project could come on line in accordance with the revised completion schedule.
He expressed these views during his visit to rock burst-torn Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) site at Mujhoi, Jhelum Valley in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. NJHP Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Zubair, Project Director, the consultants and the contractors also accompanied him during the visit.
Lahore – March 10, 2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood today visited the 1410 MW-Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project to review progress of construction work on the project.
Tarbela Dam Project General Manager Iqbal Masood Siddiqui, Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project Director Sohail Khan and representatives of the consultants and the contractors were also present on the occasion.
Lahore – March 8, 2016: A delegation of Command and Staff College, Quetta visited WAPDA House today and attended a briefing on the water and power sectors. The delegation was led by Lt. Col Salman Tajwar. WAPDA Managing Director (Administration) Muhammad Ashraf Khan and senior officers of WAPDA and PEPCO were also present on the occasion.
Lahore – February 18, 2016 : In yet another significant development towards completion of the 969 MW-Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project (NJHP), the left headrace tunnel has also been successfully connected with amazing engineering precision under River Jhelum. Right headrace tunnel of the project had already been connected in river cross section in first week of January 2016.
