12th SAF Games 2016 India

Lahore – February 18, 2016: The recent 12th SAF 2016 Games held at Guawhati, Assam, India in February 2016 saw Pakistan win 12 Gold, 37 Silver and 57 Bronze medals. 44% of these medals were won by players from WAPDA SPORTS BOARD (WSB) and a presentation was given to the Chairman WAPDA who is Patron-in-Chief of WSB. The SAF Games saw WSB players from GEPCO, LESCO, MEPCO, FESCO, NTDC, QESCO, and PESCO, bring laurels representing Pakistan in 18 sports disciplines. The 7 Gold and 19 Silver medals won by these players are 50% of Pakistan’s 12 Gold and 37 Silver medals. Similarly 21 out of the 56 Bronze medals were won by WSB players.  WSB’s 66 men and 41 women players represented 35% of the players and WSB also contributed 26% of the officials required for the games.

Intizar Sahib's Last Public Appearance at WAPDA House Lahore

Lahore – February 8, 2016: The nation mourns the passing away of legendary fiction writer Intizar Hussain who breathed his last on February 2, 2016. The world of literature will never be the same without him. Before his death, late Intizar Hussain attended a lunch at WAPDA House, Lahore on January 17 2016, hosted by WAPDA Chairman in the honour of the leading intellectuals, writers, editors and columnists. This was probably Intizar sahib’s last public appearance. WAPDA Chairman and Members of the Authority expressed their deep sense of grief and sorrow on the death of Intizar Hussain. May Allah Almighty rest his soul in eternal peace!

Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project’s first unit to be commissioned in June 2017

Lahore – January 21, 2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood has said that the first unit of the 969 MW-Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project will be commissioned in June 2017, while the other three units will also come on line one by one till December 2017.

WAPDA Chairman visits Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project

January 19, 2016: Chairman WAPDA directs authorities to expedite construction work for timely completion of project.The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood has directed the project authorities to expedite construction work on the 1410 MW - Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project for its completion by June 2017 in accordance with the accelerated programme, which has been chalked out on the directions of the Prime Minister to commission the project ahead of schedule.
