WAPDA players shine in South Asian Games; win so far 3 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze medals for Pakistan

Lahore – February 9, 2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) players, who are representing Pakistan, continue to bring laurels for their country in the 12th South Asian Games, being played in India.

WAPDA players so far have won 3 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals for Pakistan in different games. According to the details, WAPDA player Nasir Iqbal won gold medal in squash (men’s single) while Muhammad Inam and Zaman Anwar clinched gold medals in wrestling. WAPDA players Muhammad Bilal, Abdul Wahab and Asad Butt bagged silver medals in wrestling while Maria Toor and Usman Rathor won silver medals in squash (women’s single) and weightlifting respectively. Shahbaz, Hafiz Irfan and Azeem won bronze medals in badminton and Muhammad Umair in wrestling.

WAPDA Chairman, Members of the Authority and WAPDA Sports Board officials have congratulated WAPDA players on their excellent performance for Pakistan in the South Asian Games, and expressed the hope that WAPDA players would continue to produce tremendous results in international competitions for Pakistan.
