Chairman WAPDA

Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain (Retd) assumed the charge of Chairman WAPDA on August 24, 2016.  

He has a distinguished career. He joined Pakistan Army in 1976 and graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) with a distinction. He was inducted into the Infantry Battalion. Having been employed on exalted positions, he commanded an Infantry Brigade and then as Maj Gen, he was given the responsibility of commanding the most prestigious Army Division in Gilgit-Baltistan. His passion for adventurism led him to phenomenal support of Gilgit-Baltistan. He developed a relationship of love and respect with the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, which has been gathering pace by the day. As the Commander of Division, he supported the Gilgit-Baltistan in exploiting energy resources.

As Inspector General Training & Evaluation (IGT&E) in GHQ, arms doctrine and sub conventional warfare doctrines were conceived and written by him besides quantum transition to new training concept. 

Gen Muzammil commanded 30Corps Gujranwala and supported the smooth conduct of General Elections 2013 in Gujranwala Division.

He  did  his  army  courses  in  France  and  Indonesia. He  also  served  in  Saudi Arabia  in Gulf  War 1.

Gen Muzammil had the honour of serving as Defence Attaché in Jakarta, Indonesia. His       3-year stint exposed him to the world of diplomacy.

His youth witnessed distinctive representation of Pakistan Army in sports like Athletics, Basket Ball, Squash and Tennis.

He also had the privilege of being on the faculty of the world-renowned Command and Staff College Quetta as both Instructor and Chief Instructor.

Gen Muzammil has a penchant for reading. He is a regular speaker on different forums of international repute. He has spoken to a number of seminars and workshops in various universities of the United Kingdom on the subjects of National Security Perspective.
