PAPIN DAM PROJECT

1. Location
 

The dam site is located across Wadala Kas a tributary of Soan River at a distance of about 2 Km East of Papin Village, 50 Km South West of Rawat Town in District Rawalpindi of Punjab Province.

2. Scope of Work

Government of Pakistan intends to develop land and water resources of the country for irrigated agriculture development, hydropower, flood control, socio economic uplift, and emancipation of poor and needy women of the area.

7.Salient Features 111 ft high Concrete Gravity Dam will create gross storage of 89,600 AF and this storage will be used to irrigate 18,000 acres of Culturable Command Area with high efficiency irrigation system alongwith hydropower generation of 200 KW.
8. Present Status / Progress 1. PC-I amounting to Rs. 1.136 Billion approved by ECNEC it its meeting held on September
    03,2009.
2. Revised PC-I amounting to Rs. 8.609 Billion submitted to MOW&P for arranging approval
    of ECNEC.
3. Tenders for construction will be invited on allocation of funds for construction of project.
4. No funds allocated in PSDP 2011-12.
5. Funds amounting to Rs. 200 Million  required for 2012-13
