Brief regarding Updation of Wapda Website - Education Directorate

1. Objectives

a. The vision of WAPDA Schools / Colleges to provide the WAPDA employee children high quality Islamic oriented education on welfare basis, with special emphasis on making the children a positive contributing community member.

b. Exercise technical control over educational institutions with special emphasis on the following:-

(1) Ensure uniform and quality education.

(2) Coordinate the Refresher Courses for teachers during summer vacations.

2. Basic Education Policy

a. All WAPDA Institutions are registered and affiliated with their concerned BISE.

b. Framing Admission Policy, fee structure etc. as per provisions of instructions by Authority and BISE concerned.

c. Inter transfer / posting of teachers WAPDA / PEPCO.

d. Annual inspection of WAPDA educational institutions and to send recommendations/suggestions to
concerned.

e. Liaison with the Provincial Government Education Departments.

f. Monitoring of educational scholarships.

g. Opening of new schools/up-gradation of existing ones.

h. Monitor the deficiency of teaching staff and to recruit Trained Graduate Teacher after holding a competition examination.

i. Dealing with policy matters including syllabi, admissions, fee structure, etc. Inspection of WAPDA Educational Institutions.

j. Ensure teaching standards.

k. Transfer of teaching staff, settling of seniority disputes, maintaining seniority, promotion and posting of teaching staff of colleges through Director (CM) S&C.

l. All Secretarial work including correspondence on policy matters with Federal/Provincial Governments, up-gradation of schools, registration of Schools/Colleges with Provincial Government etc.

m. Overall administrative, technical and financial control of Authority on all WAPDA educational institutions being WAPDA property.

n. Admission to Non WAPDA Students in WAPDA Schools

Authority in its Meeting held on February 11, 2006 is pleased to allow admission to Non-WAPDA students in all WAPDA Schools subject to the following conditions:-

· Admission will be restricted to 10% of the prescribed strength of section (5 seats will be reserved to accommodate the children of WAPDA employees, on transfer etc).

· Priority will be given to children of WAPDA employees working at Project/Station.

· Children of WAPDA employees working at other stations and residing in the localities will be next priority.

· Number of students as per section shall in no way exceed forty (40) including Non-WAPDA students.

o. Non-WAPDA students will be charged as under with immediate effect:-

3. Extra Curriculum Activities WAPDA takes keen interest in sports and extra curriculum activities in its Educational Institutions and deputes coaches of different games to WAPDA Schools / Colleges under the guidance of these experts the students are learning games.

4. Contribution of WAPDA Institutions: All WAPDA Educational Institutions are imparting latest education to the children in the fields of Science, Computer Math etc to cope with present Educational requirements. Computer laboratories with staff are made in WAPDA Institutions with latest technology with the vision to cope the future requirements of its students.

5. Eligibility of Admission: Only eligible candidates are admitted in WAPDA Institutions. After entry test the children of WAPDA Employees and general public are admitted. The admission criteria are as under:-

a. New admission from Prep to 10^th is made prior two weeks to start new session.

b. Age limit for admission in prep class should be 4+ years on Ist April of every year. Age
categories for other classes are as below:-

6. Achievements of WAPDA Institutions: WAPDA Institutions have achieved many landmarks in the field of Education and Extra Curricular activities as under:

a. WAPDA Girls High School, A.I. Town got President talent award in 2007 and stood 5^th position in Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore in 2008

b. Mr. Muhammad Nauman S/O Muhammad Amjad Uppal student of 2^nd year Pre-Engineering Group of WAPDA College, GUDDU has secured 2^nd Position with 935 marks in all over the BISE Larkana for the year of 2008-2009.

c. Sidra Mustafa student of WAPDA Girls High School Shalimar Town Lahore has secured 2nd position in 19th Inter Board Science Essay Competition.

d. Mehak Sabir D/o Sabir Shaheen student WAPDA Girls High School, Shalimar Town Lahore has got 1st position in Lahore District in middle level by securing 729/800 makrs conducted by Punjab Examination Commission.

e. Mr. Muthair Safdar S/o Safdar Ali sutdent of 10th class of WAPDA Boys High School SPS Faisalabad has secured 3rd position with 985/1050 marks in all over the BISE Faisalabad.

f. Ms. Sana student 10th class of WAPDA Model school Sukkur has secured 4th position in all over the BISE Larkana.

7. Facilitations

a. WAPDA Primary School (Water) Wing Hyderabad was upgraded and renamed as Shaheed Benazir Bhutto High School (Water Wing) Colony, Hyderabad.

b. WAPDA Middle (English Medium) School Mangle was upgraded as High.

c. WAPDA Inter College Guddu was upgraded as WApda Degree College Guddu.
